Welcome to the IDEA Club's Website!

The IDEA Club is simply a group of students with a passion for designing, engineering, and building various projects that members come up with. We host design competitions, attend design meetings, reach out into the community, as well as perform community service and provide students with an outlet for all their theoretical knowledge they learn in classes.

This year's first main "idea" is researching, designing, and constructing an underwater ROV that will be entered into an international competition. This competition is an annual event, hosted by the MATE center for marine technologies. Last year, the competition was held at NASA's Neutral Buoyancy Lab located in Houston, TX. Our team placed 17th out of the world, even though we were unable to complete the mission due to component failure. This year's competition is held in Orlando, FL, and we hope to place much better this year, after learning from last year's mistakes.

The second "idea" for the 2011-2012 school year is to build an electric go-kart. This will be no ordinary go-kart. We have a 65HP 144VDC electric motor, used in a conversion kit for a large diesel truck. Our frame is about the size of a small car, and seats two. Our suspension is designed to be fully independent, as well as electronically auto-leveling. This will be a great show when we drive up a set of stairs, and the go-kart levels itself out.
